BUILDING SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL QUOTIENT
- Joy of sharing is indeed really amazing ! We always believes in the tradition of sharing joy and happiness with others. PIET Sanskriti School in its endeavor & tradition is to sensitize our children towards the people belonging to the underprivileged section of the society . The Students of Grade 5 prepared the sandwich and distributed among under privilege kids . For this, they used different materials like bread slice, cucumber, capsicum, tomato, pepper, cheese etc to prepare tasty sandwiches.The students learnt the values of helping others, sharing and being self dependent.
- In addition to imbibe emotional and social quotient, students have shown their acting skill when they depicted “ how to entertain when guests arrives at home” Through the act-plays they have shown good and bad conduct of host family with guest family.“Guest Arena Activity” was planned on the motto of enhancing knowledge, acting & imaginative skills, aesthetic sense of the students .
- Inculcating Indian Values is the need of today’s generation which School had initiated through its various activities. Like Joy of giving, Sharing is Caring, Helping hands etc. Such Activities also helps in developing the Parent Children bonding to another level ultimately in developing the (EQ) Emotional Quotient. We are bonding the Future Generation to upper level through Indian Culture and Traditions.
- Co-curricular activities are designed and balanced with academic curriculum so that every student gets to learn beyond subjects. Co-curricular activities are meant to bring social skills, intellectual skills, moral values, personality and character appeal in students. Co-curricular pursuits contribute greatly towards strengthening the emotional quotient of a child, especially in the current scenario where our little people are cooped up inside their homes. Well! If they can’t go to school, the school will come to them, bringing all the pursuits that keeps them happy! the Virtual activity classes , where students get to learn about honesty, trustworthiness, responsible, compassion, collaboration, communication, listening, thinking out of the box, adaptability and emotional quotient etc.
- “With an aim to optimize learning and promote positive emotions in students we organized a session on ‘Happy Classroom’ emphasised that motivation plays a vital role . The importance of Emotional Quotient and ways for emotional self-regulation were also discussed. Students also learned about appreciation and how important is to appreciate efforts done by others.
- A unique activity to promote Emotional Quotient in the upcoming generation Meri kahani Meri Zubani where narration of the story taken to different level by our students. Emotions play an integral role in education, affecting student motivation, attention, social functioning and ethical decision making. Enjoyment of learning motivates students to apply greater effort, whereas boredom only discourages effort.
- Music enhances communication skills and social interaction in children. It nurtures a child’s emotional quotient and develops empathy towards music and various cultures. Students tuned WE ARE THE WORLD .This activity involves feeling a rhythm and responding with various actions to understand the world around us. This improves their ability to interpret facial expressions and body language in an enjoyable way.
- Students deal with many of the same emotions adults do. Students get angry, sad, frustrated, nervous, happy, or embarrassed, but they often do not have the words to talk about how they are feeling. Instead, they sometimes act out these emotions in very physical and inappropriate ways. “Social Emotional Learning is a bunch of big words. It means that you’re able to know what you’re feeling and you’re able to talk about what you’re feeling. And more than anything, you’re able to do something about it.”Students learned about EMOTIONS.
- Imparting life skills education to the students, can be helpful in many ways as it specifically addresses the needs of children, helps in motivating them and provides practical, cognitive, emotional, social and self-management skills for life adjustments. Life Skills Program is embedded as a part of the regular curriculum. The Life Skills Program is geared to make independent learners and help them acquire skills for life. Students learned about to help mummas in their household chores.
- Show and tell isn’t just about giving the children a reason to bring toys or pictures to class; each child’s social, emotional and language skills will grows and develops from these kind of activities. Children learn to use descriptive language, practice listening skills and share their special items with others. Sharing prized possessions with peers makes for a fun and comfortable learning arena for everyone involved. Show and tell can open up doors to making new friends. Once a child has gone through his show and tell, other kids may want to talk to him about it. Some of the children may have a similar object, which provides a connection and opportunity to talk about a similar interest.
- Talking about animals and learning about relationships with animals serves as the perfect vehicle to allow young students to practice the social and emotional skills they need to be successful. Children, whether they have pets in the home or not, appear to be innately drawn to the world of animals and are highly engaged in learning about them.
- Students had a fabulous time making a farm collage. They learnt about the various animals living in the farm, the houses they live in, the food that they eat , the sounds they make , the product they give and how useful they are. Students brought their favourite animal toys or pictures of their favourite animals to school for show and tell activity. This was structured question-and-answer activity which encouraged children to use descriptive words and full sentences. Questions like “Why is this special to you?” “What is so special about this animal?” or “Why do you like this animal?” helped students to strengthen their descriptive skills. This activity also helped children learn to communicate feelings, thoughts and emotions with words.
